Curriculum
MSAD#15’s curriculum outlines the scope and sequence of content. The district curriculum is based on the content standards as outlined by the Maine Department of Education in MRSA §20 Ch. 125. Students in MSAD #15 engage with content in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Health and Physical Education, Visual and Performing Arts, World Languages and Life and Career Readiness.
In addition to core content, students will demonstrate proficiency in Maine’s Guiding Principles to become:
- Clear and Effective Communicators
- Self-Directed and Life Long Learners
- Creative and Practical Problem Solvers
- Responsible and involved Citizens
The instructional design in MSAD#15 supports the achievement of all students. We believe that all students can learn and that learning is the constant and time is the variable. Our model supports the differentiation of curriculum allowing all students to attain proficiency before moving on to more advanced content. Student centered classrooms are created to engage students in challenging learning opportunities and to promote student leadership through voice and choice.
MSAD 15’s Board of Public Education has adopted processes for the review and approval of curriculum and selection of materials or programs to support instruction. Reports on this work can be found on the Curriculum Committee page from the School Board website.
