The Greely Rangers erupted for six runs in the home half of the third inning and made it stand up as they defeated a spirited Patriots club by the score of 6-1. The Patriots were able to post a short-lived 1-0 lead in the second as Aiden Gonzalez was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. Aidan Sweeney promptly sacrificed Gonzalez to second who quickly advanced to third on a passed ball. An unsuccessful suicide bunt attempt had Gonzalez caught up between third and home, but the Ranger defense was unable to get to get him out and the run scored. Conner Saunders toed the rubber for the Patriots and worked effectively for the first
two innings before the Ranger offense took over on the third, scoring all of their six runs on four hits, including two doubles. Gonzalez came in relief in the fourth inning and completely shut down the Greely batters over the next three innings. Once again the Patriots corps of outfielders were stellar throughout the game with ten putouts. The Patriots will have their work cut out for them this week as they face three of the top five conference leaders. They will be on the road Tuesday and Wednesday as the travel to Fryeburg Academy and York High School before returning to Patriots Place on Friday to host Freeport on Senior Recognition Day. All games begin at 4:00.
