There was nothing pretty about this one as the Yarmouth Clippers sailed in to Patriots Place and took care of busy early, scoring six quick runs before the home team got a chance to bat. The Patriots did respond in the bottom half of the same inning as co-captain Nick McCann hit a two-out double and scored the team’s lone run on a RBI single by co-captain Cam Andrews. But defensively the home team was uncharacteristically sloppy, committing five errors that extended Yarmouth’s scoring opportunities in each of the first three innings. Junior Colby Saunders, in extended relief of sophomore starter Wyatt Kenney, was able to keep the visitors hitless over the last two frames. Offensively, senior shortstop Cooper Winslow garnered two hits and raised his average to a team second-best .321, while junior Logan True added a double in the fourth. The Patriots need to put this one in the rear view mirror as they travel to face the powerful Greely Rangers tomorrow for an 11:00 encounter.
