The US News & World Report recently released its annual ranking of schools across the state, and I am thrilled to announce that our school has been ranked #6 in the State and #4 in the Portland/ Southern Maine Area Schools!

This achievement is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our entire school community, including our students, teachers, staff, administrators, families, and supportive school board. Each member of our community plays a crucial role in the success of our school, and it is through our collective efforts that we have been able to achieve such a commendable ranking.

Four key factors that have contributed to our district’s success:

Academic Excellence: Our commitment to academic excellence is evident in the outstanding performance of our students. We take pride in offering a  variety of course levels, ExCEL (Alternative Education), PATHS, Advance Placement (AP), Early College, and International Baccalaureate (IB).

Dedicated Faculty and Staff: Our team of dedicated educators and staff members go above and beyond to support our students daily. Their passion for teaching, tireless efforts, and unwavering commitment to student success have been instrumental in our school’s achievements.

Student Engagement and Support: We continue to prioritize student engagement and want every student to feel valued and empowered to succeed. Through a variety of academic options and extracurricular activities, we ensure students have opportunities to explore their interests and develop essential skills beyond the classroom.

Community Collaboration: We value our partnerships with parents, community members, and local organizations who all play a vital role in our success. By working together, we are able to leverage resources, share expertise, and create opportunities that benefit our students and enhance the overall educational experience.

We want to express our sincere gratitude to each and every member of our school community for their contributions to our success. Together, we have achieved something truly remarkable, and we are excited about the possibilities that lie ahead as we continue on our journey of excellence.

Sun School: We are excited to share that we will be offering 3.5 days of Sun School to all high school students on June 17, 18, 20, 21. Since we will not be offering a credit recovery option this summer, Sun School was developed to provide students with targeted time with classroom teachers at the end of the semester to finalize summative work and improve grade(s) to a passing mark. The last day of the school year for students passing all their classes will be Friday, June 14th.

Seniors and Senior Families: Be sure to check your email for the GNGHS Senior Events document for important dates and upcoming events!

Staff Appreciation Week: Teacher Appreciation is May 6th-10th. Please join us in thanking all of our AMAZING teachers and staff members for their hard work!

That concludes this week’s edition of the Patriot Express! We wish you all a great week!  -Ms. Grealish & Ms. Costello
