The Lake Region Lakers came to town and handed the Gray-New Gloucester Patriots their first loss of the season by a lopsided margin of 13-1. Sophomore starter Connor Saunders, in his first varsity start, shook off some first inning jitters in which the Lakers built a quick 4-0 lead to retire the sides in the second. But two key errors extended the inning for the young righty and the Lakers extended their lead to 8-1. The Patriots lone run came in the second as Aidan Sweeney reached on an infield error, advanced to second on a single by freshman Aiden Gonzalez. A Lake Region error loaded the bases for the Patriots and Sweeney scored the lone run on a fielders choice. Now 1-1, the Patriots look to bounce back as they travel to Waynflete tomorrow for a 4:00 encounter.
