The Patriots traveled to Wells and defeated the Warriors 2-0. This was a very physical game that probably should have seen a few more goals by the Patriots. They were able to take control from the beginning and keep the Warriors pinned back for a majority of the game.
The Patriots struck early for the second straight game. Less than three minutes in the score was 1-0. Liza Sturgis won the ball in the midfield and sent a nice pass to Jordan Grant at the top of the box. Jordan with her back to the goal took one touch to her left, turned around the defender and sent a fast paced low shot to the far post, netting her sixth goal of the season. She nearly had a second goal less than ten minutes later on the exact same type of shot, but missed just wide.
Though they had several opportunities, the Patriots struggled to find the back of the net again in the first half. Ivy Abrams had a couple fantastic plays in goal to prevent the Warriors from scoring late in the half. Twice in a matter of a couple of minutes Emma Badger got free on a breakaway. The first time Ivy came running out to stop the shot, it was enough to scare Emma into miss-hitting the shot well over the goal. The second time Ivy took the ball right off of her feet before she was able to get the shot off.
The Patriots continued to attack in the second half. Despite the constant pressure, they still struggled to find that second goal. It wasn’t until the final minute of the game when Jordan scored her second goal of the game. She stole the ball near midfield, dribbled around a couple players on her way towards the right side of the field. As she reached the corner of the eighteen yard line, she sent a hard shot towards the goal that soared over the keeper into the side of the netting. This gave the Patriots a 2-0 lead with twelve seconds left.
The Patriots improve to 4-3 with the win and the Warriors drop to 3-5. The Patriots will look win their third game in a row when they host the Old Orchard Beach  Seagulls on Monday September 30th. Varsity will kickoff at 6:00pm.
