Hello MSAD 15 families,

The fall leaves are still putting on a great show, but snow could show up any day now. So grab a cup of cocoa, and let’s go over what happens on storm days.

You can find our full storm plan on page 2 of the 2026–27 School Calendar on the district website. Our four storm day options are:
🕙 2-hour delay: School starts two hours late and ends at the usual time. There is no Pre-K on these days. We use this option when a little extra time will make the roads safer.
💻 Remote day: Students learn from home. We use this option when it isn’t safe to travel, but most homes in Gray and New Gloucester still have power and internet.
🏠 No school: We use this option when many homes lose power or internet. We also use it if we didn’t get a chance to send devices and meals home the day before.
🚌 Early dismissal: This is rare. We only send students home early when we can warn you ahead of time, or when a storm makes it truly necessary.

How you’ll hear from us: On a storm day, watch for a call, a text, and an email around 5:00 AM. Once in a while I’ll decide the night before. Most of the time, though, you’ll hear from me in the morning. That announcement is also posted on our website, on our social media accounts, and with the three local TV news stations. No news is good news! If you don’t hear from me, school is on as usual.

Quick favor: Please make sure your phone number and email are up to date in PowerSchool. Your school secretary is happy to help.

More about remote days: Stay tuned! Principals will send general information in the next few weeks. After that, teachers will share details about their own classes. Also, school meals are available for remote days. Families who sign up will have remote meals sent home with their children when we suspect a remote day might be coming. You can sign up here.

Want to know why? If you’re curious about why we chose these options, watch the March 4, 2026 school board meeting. The calendar talk starts at minute 32. At minute 43, we explain the reasons for our storm day choices.

Stay warm,
Chanda
